BEIJING, Sept 10 – The China National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC) revised up its forecast for the country’s 2008 paddy output to 187.3 million tonnes from 186.5 million tonnes last month.
The official grain think-tank maintained its 2008 corn output estimate at a record 156 million tonnes, a rise of 2.75 percent from 2007.
The center also kept its soybean output forecast unchanged. China, the world’s largest soybean importer, was also expected to harvest a record 17.5 million tonnes of soybeans this year thanks to larger acreage, a rise of 36.7 percent from last year, it said.
