BEIJING, Sept 22 - China in August increased crude imports 11.54 percent compared with a year earlier, recovering from a steep July fall, the General Administration of Customs said on Friday, confirming earlier data.

The world’s number-two oil consumer imported 15.65 million tonnes of crude in August alone and 119.98 million tonnes in the first eight months of the year. Diesel shipments were down slightly from a record the previous month, but still reached an unusually high 883,189 tonnes.

China also remained a net gasoline importer for only the fourth month on record, with exports of 149,187 tonnes outweighed by shipments of 382,151 tonnes.
