Romanian Hanescu climbs 45 places on ATP rankings

BUCHAREST, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) — Romanian tennis player Victor Hanescu climbed 45 places on the ATP rankings after playing the Open Romania final and ranks now the 106th with 408 points, the national Rompres news agency said on Monday.

The 12th edition of the Open Romania tennis tournament took place on Sept. 10-16 in Bucharest, Hanescu became the first local finalist in the Open’s history, receiving 30,000 euro and 120 points.

The 33 year-old Andrei Pavel remains the best-ranked Romanian player, on the 88th place, with 467 points, climbing two positions after his participation in Open Romania.

Adrian Ungur climbed 87 places, after playing the final in the challenger tournament in Todi, ranking now on the 290th place.

In the ATP Race, Hanescu is 107th, climbing 52 places, and Pavel is 68th with four places up.
