MACAO, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) — Chen Jin of China beat Wong Choon-Hann of Malaysia 2-1 here on Saturday to advance into the men’s singles final of the 2007 Macao Badminton Open.

World number four Chen took one and a half hours to finish the battle with 21-13, 16-21 and 24-22.

Chen had a perfect start in the opening game. After tied at 6-6,Chen led the way and closed out 21-13.

But Wong changed the tactics in the second set to contain Chen’s smashes and net drop shots and earned four points in a row to end the game 21-16.

In the third, Wong took the lead at 16-12 and had three match points in hand as he led at 20-18.

But Chen reversed the situation to beat five match points of Wong and leveled at 22-22. Cheered by a raucous crowd, Chen had two points in a row to finish the match at 24-22.

“It is a really hard game, I even thought I might lose the game at 20-18, but I told myself to try my best and do not care about the score. I think I made it,” said Chen.

Chen will face Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia in the final. Taufik edged Korean Park Sung-Hwan 2-0 (25-23, 21-19) in the other semifinal held here on Saturday.
