Updated: 2007-10-12
The UCI Africa Tour season ended with two exciting events; the 10th edition of the Tour of Senegal (August 30 – September
and a new one day event in South Africa, the Powerade Dome 2 Dome Cycling Spectacular (September 16).
Winner of this year’s edition of the Tour of Senegal was the Moroccan Jelloul Adil who finished the 10-day stage race of a total of 1′273km in 30:14:41. His compatriot Saadoune Abdelatif finished in 2nd place, and the 3rd best African rider, Sanda Joseph from Cameroon, finished in 8th place. The African riders therefore took most of the UCI points; 40 points for the overall win, 30 points for 2nd overall and 3 points for 8th place. Another strong African rider who showed a great performance was Tekou Damien from Cameroon, winning 8 points for his stage seven victory.
European teams from Italy, France, Belgium and Holland certainly pushed up the level and made this edition a hard challenge. Besides two domestic teams, African Teams came mainly from North, West and Central Africa with teams from Morocco, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Cameroon.
