Messi and Aguero in Olympic squad

(BEIJING, July 3) — Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero, two young geniuses of Argentina, were included in the country’s men’s squad for Beijing 2008 which was named by the coach Sergio Batista on Wednesday.

Boca Juniors veteran, former Barcelona and Villarreal midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme, along with Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso and Liverpool’s Javier Mascherano were included by the defending champions as the three over-age players.

Argentina will face Cote d’Ivoire in its first-round game on August 7 in Shanghai, then Australia and Serbia.

The Argentinean Olympic football men’s team roster is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Oscar Ustari (Getafe), Sergio Romero (AZ Alkmaar).

Defenders: Pablo Zabaleta (Espanyol), Luciano Monzon (Boca Juniors), Ezequiel Garay (Real Madrid), Nicolas Burdisso (Inter Milan), Federico Fazio (Sevilla), Lautaro Acosta (Sevilla).

Midfielders: Fernando Gago (Real Madrid), Juan Roman Riquelme (Boca Juniors), Ever Banega (Valencia), Javier Mascherano (Liverpool), Jose Sosa (Bayern Munich).

Forwards: Diego Buonanotte (River Plate), Sergio Aguero (Atletico Madrid), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli), Angel Di Maria (Benfica).
