Hardy sets women’s 50m breaststroke world record

LONDON, April 10 (Xinhua) — American swimmer Jessica Hardy broke the world record on her way to winning the women’s 50m breaststroke event at the world short-course championships in Manchester on Thursday.
The 21-year-old set a new mark of 29.58, beating the Australian Jade Edmistone’s previous record of 29.90.
“I’ve been training hard. To do that sort of time is impressive and I’m really happy,” she said.
