Teen helps Britain to World Series diving win
SHEFFIELD, England (AP)—A 14-year-old Olympic-bound diver helped Britain on Saturday win its first FINA Diving World Series gold medal.
Tom Daley, who will compete in Beijing, and Blake Aldridge earned the competition’s first maximum score of 10 for their second dive in the 10-meter platform synchronized event at the Sheffield competition, the second of three on this year’s World Series schedule.
The pair stayed in front the rest of the way.
“That was a really good performance—the best we’ve ever done on our opening two required dives,” Daley said. “It was a close final with some superb diving and plenty of drama. I’m pleased with the way we held it together.”
