(BEIJING, August 7)– The 12355 hotline officially opened on August 6 to offer counseling support to volunteers of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

The 12355 hotline will be open 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The hotline will offer counseling services to volunteers 14 hours a day through trained consultants.

The establishment of the 12355 hotline is mainly aimed at guaranteeing the stability of volunteer teams and to encourage volunteers to fulfill their service potential. Phone calls from volunteers will be recorded to provide feedback to relevant departments. For callers who appear to require more acute services, relevant hospitals will be contacted to provide consultation and mental health services. When a major emergency occurs, counselors will offer support to volunteers at any time.
