BEIJING (AP)—Emanuel and Ricardo beat Americans Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal in the beach volleyball quarterfinals to give Brazil two teams in the men’s final four, along with a third that is Brazilian in all but their passports.
The defending Olympic champions won 21-18, 21-16, joining Marcio and Fabio, who advanced earlier Monday.
Jorge Terceiro and Renato Gomes also have reached the semifinals. They are native Brazilians playing for Georgia to avoid a quota that limits each country to two teams in the field of 24.
Americans Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser are the other team with a chance to medal.
