(BEIJING, December 27)– On Thursday night, all of the members of the Chinese table tennis team headed to Beijing’s Huairou District to start six-days of military training. Since the last day of training will be on January 1, New Year’s Day, the table tennis players will spend the first day of the year with military field officers.

After military training, the men’s team will go to Shenzhen and the women’s team to Zhongshan in Guangdong Province to prepare for the team competition of the Table Tennis Championships next February.

The leader of the table tennis team, Huang Biao, emphasized the importance of military training, especially in regards to its significance in helping athletes prepare for the Olympic Games. A total of 86 players will participate in the training. Huang hopes the training will cultivate better discipline and a strong competitive spirit among the players, cohesively helping the entire team step onto a new stage.
