Updated:2008-04-04
(ISTANBUL, Turkey, April 3) — A torchbearer confined to a wheelchair said that the sacred flame was a flame of hope for her and that becoming a torchbearer meant that her dream has come true.
Gizem Girismen, 26, who stood first in 2007 Archery World Ranking list, is very excited about her participation in the Olympic torch relay.
In 1992, when she was only 11-years-old, she got injured from her spinal cord and has been paraplegic since then.
Although Girismen is a woman with a disability, she has not let her suffering slow her down.

We’re just greatly proud of Her, wish there were more Gizems in this world, to make it much better…
