(BEIJING, March 4) — China’s Olympic 100m hurdle champion Liu Xiang said he has no interest in sports. Instead, he prefers laying in bed and enjoying delicacies.
His words came days after he arrived in Spain in advance of the IAAF World Indoor Championships scheduled for March 7-9 in Valencia.
Speaking in Madrid, a city which enjoys an international reputation as a football metropolis, the 24-year-old showed a great deal of apathy to the sport of football.
Liu remarked that he wouldn’t pay for football tickets, as he is not interested in the sport.
His coach Sun Haiping has eliminated any possibility for his “apprentice” to go sightseeing. “It is impossible. There will be sufficient time after the Olympic Games.”
Liu instead spends his time in Madrid lying on a tailor-made massage bed, which was air-shipped from China.
